PORTLAND — Police say a woman was seriously injured after jumping out of a moving vehicle while escaping a kidnapper in the Portland suburb of Milwaukie.

Lt. Robert Wurpes of the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded Monday night to what was reported as a pedestrian hit by a car.

But the woman told deputies she had been working alone when a man assaulted her and then forced her outside to a purple minivan. She was able to escape as the man drove.

Wurpes says the woman is in her 20s, but he declined to release her name.

Her attacker is described as being around 50 years old, with gray hair, wire-rimmed glasses and a goatee or beard. He was last seen wearing a dark navy-blue hooded jacket.

Police released photos from surveillance video in hopes that someone will identify the suspect.
