PORTLAND — The Multnomah County District Attorney says no criminal charges will be filed against a bouncer who fatally shot a masked gunman at a Portland strip club.

The DA’s office announced Friday that a grand jury determined that Jonathan Baer’s actions were justified under Oregon law.

The masked man — 43-year-old Thomas Hjelmeland — shot a bouncer in the head Jan. 11 and was leaving the club when he was shot in the back by Baer.

Hjelmeland died five days later.

The wounded bouncer — 26-year-old Brian Rizzo — remains in a Portland hospital.
