Vancouver’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline edged up ever so slightly this week, to $3.996 from last week’s $3.993, according to the weekly survey from AAA Oregon/Idaho.

That price puts the city just a penny lower than the statewide average of $4.01 per gallon for Washington, which is one of just four states exceeding $4 per gallon. Oregon’s average for the week is $3.98 per gallon.

AAA said wholesale gasoline prices are subsiding in many parts of the country, and predicted an easing of gas prices over the next couple of weeks.
