Oregon sheds jobs, ending its nearly yearlong streak

Oregon’s string of monthly jobs gains has come to an end after nearly a year.

The state Employment Department said Tuesday that employers cut 4,300 jobs during June.

The Oregonian reported the losses were widespread, spanning blue-collar and white-collar industries, as well as low- and high-paid jobs.

Construction companies had been adding workers at a rapid clip, but cut back by about 3,600 jobs.
