The Clark County Sheriff’s Office arrested an Orchards man Monday morning in relation to fires that occurred a few hours earlier.

Brandon Emery, 18, was booked into the Clark County Jail on a charge of second-degree arson following an investigation by the Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office.

According to a news release, Emery lit two grass fires near York Elementary School, 9301 N.E. 152nd Ave., early Monday morning. Damage was limited to two small areas, less than a quarter acre. However, the fires had potential to become very large.

Emery also spoke to the investigators about his involvement in other fires in the area.
