A Vancouver man was robbed at gunpoint Saturday evening at the Salmon Falls park and ride in Skamania County.

Allen Ferrians, 70, told Skamania County sheriff’s deputies that he stopped to use the restroom at the park and ride, adjacent to Highway 14 near Salmon Falls Road, at about 5:30 p.m. after a day of fishing, according to the sheriff’s office.

As he walked back to his car, Ferrians was approached by one of two motorcycle riders who brandished a dark handgun and demanded money. Ferrians gave the man about $250 and the two motorcyclists left in an unknown direction.

Deputies responded but did not locate the suspects, who were wearing black leather and helmets.

The sheriff’s office described the motorcycles as cruiser-type motorcycles similar to Harley-Davidsons.

“This is an unusual event for that area and we are extremely concerned,” Undersheriff Dave Cox said in a press release.

The agency is continuing its investigation into the incident and asks that anyone with information call the sheriff’s office at 509-427-9490.
