Washougal — Some kids are freaked out by things that creep and crawl.

But not the kids who petted and held the creatures brought to Hathaway Elementary School by Scott Petersen, the “Reptile Man.”

The animal expert’s July 14 visit was part of a free summer event series for kids in the school’s gym. During his presentation, the audience got a better understanding of the lives of animals such as Betty the Burmese python and Lucy the alligator.
