The Vancouver Clinic is hosting classes for people with prediabetes.

Prediabetes is a condition in which a person has a blood sugar level higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. The two-hour courses are designed for anyone who has been diagnosed with prediabetes, impaired fasting glucose, impaired glucose tolerance or metabolic syndrome.

The classes are led by a certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian. Participants will learn about the prediabetes diagnosis, create a meal plan, make a personal physical activity plan, learn how to reduce fat while maintaining flavor in their diet, learn how to interpret a food label and develop a plan for reasonable weight loss, if needed.

The next class is from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 9 at The Vancouver Clinic – 87th Avenue, 700 N.E. 87th Ave. Another class is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 8 at the Salmon Creek office, 2525 N.E. 139th St.

The class is $25. Advanced registration is required. Call 360-882-2778 ext. 2361 to register.
