Customers of Northwest Natural Gas Co. will split an $11 million credit from the company’s gas storage operations on their June bills.
The credit amounts to about $12 for the average residential customer in Oregon or nearly $48 for the average commercial customer. Southwest Washington customers are not eligible for the rebate.
Northwest Natural has a sharing mechanism with customers for profits earned on the optimization of its gas pipeline system and its underground gas storage facility at Mist. This year’s credit is the 13th in a row. Ratepayers advocates have argued that customers deserve a larger percentage of the optimization profits.
