Letter: Grateful for the greater sacrifice

The Columbian
Published: June 5, 2014, 5:00pm

June 6 marks the 70th anniversary of the largest invasion in history. My father, a citizen soldier, landed a glider in Normandy four hours before the troops hit the beaches, and was medically evacuated over those same beaches six days later with two combat wounds.

I served 30 years in the military, manning a desk, managing people and getting promoted.Which of us provided the greater service to our country? I’ll just say that he was part of America’s greatest generation.
