Portland — Sponsors of the Oregon Equal Rights Amendment have gathered more than 155,000 signatures and continue to collect more.

The campaign needs to submit 116,284 valid signatures by July 3 for the initiative to qualify for the Nov. 4 ballot. The campaign expects to hear back soon from the Oregon Secretary of State’s Office as to whether signatures submitted by May 23 will be enough to qualify for the ballot.

Until then, signature gatherers continue to be out in force.
