I awoke early Wednesday morning expecting an average day. Then I saw The Columbian and wow, a red-letter day, to be sure. Finally, some common sense prevails among our, um, “interesting” politicians. Ed Barnes was appointed Clark County commissioner. Although I hear the shrill cries from the far right, this is a great day.
I have known Barnes personally for more than 50 years. We are both (gasp) members of Local 48, IBEW, retired, of course. Many years ago I worked with and for Barnes. He then became our union business agent, a difficult political position, which he handled with aplomb. Upon retirement, he has spent countless hours working with Habitat for Humanity, wiring homes and helping where he can. These acts of kindness come from the heart of a good man who asks for no thanks. No finer human ever walked the face of this Earth, in my opinion, and hopefully he will bring some balance into our political situation.
I am thrilled to have Barnes as a leader — again.
