Auburn — Auburn police say one man was killed and a woman was critically injured in a single vehicle car crash on Sunday in Auburn.

Commander Mike Hirman says it appears the man who died was not wearing a seatbelt. He says the man and woman are in their early 40s.

Hirman says the car was traveling on an Auburn street around 2 a.m. on Sunday when it struck a power pole, shattering the front of the car.

He says the investigation is ongoing and it’s unknown if speed, alcohol or drugs played a role.
