Letter: Briggs gains support

The Columbian
Published: June 12, 2014, 5:00pm

My husband and I have been registered Republicans for many years. But the recent actions of the Republican Party in our county have caused us both to question whether we can continue to call ourselves Republicans.

I watched in horror as Rep. Brandon Vick, R-Vancouver, and other Clark County Republicans torpedoed the Columbia River Crossing project. It was far from perfect, but it was all we had. Now, we still have an elderly bridge with no viable solution in sight.

Democrat Mike Briggs, candidate for 18th Legislative District Position 1, has my support as an open-minded, clear-thinking individual who isn’t afraid to tackle thorny issues.
