It continues to amaze me that the press focuses on the criminal as in the June 7 front-page article “Student pepper-sprayed, tackled gunman,” related to the Seattle Pacific University shooting. The photo should have been the student who prevented further violence by his heroic actions.
Numerous times it’s been stated that the perpetrator’s action is driven by the need for attention — why give them what they want?
