TROUTDALE, Ore. — The Oregon Department of Transportation brought in a special piece of equipment — a reach excavator — to bring down rocks overhanging the Historic Columbia River Highway at the site of slide that has closed the highway since June 5 at Troutdale.

Crews have been removing boulders and debris to clear the highway.

KGW reports ODOT expects to reopen the highway on Wednesday.
