On June 9, the Camas School District board of directors hired Rory Oster as the new athletic director for the district.

The Enumclaw native will replace Josh Gibson, who has taken a new position as a guidance counselor at Camas High School.

“Rory is known and respected throughout the Northwest as an outstanding athletic director,” said Superintendent Mike Nerland. “He brings enormous energy and passion to this position, and I’m confident the extra-curricular program in the Camas School District will continue to be one of excellence and opportunity for our students.”

CHS Principal Steve Marshall said Oster “distinguished himself from an incredibly strong pool of candidates.”

Oster began teaching at Medical Lake High School, just west of Spokane where he obtained his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University. Oster moved to Madras, Ore., where he served as a P.E. teacher and the head girls basketball coach at Madras High School. Oster became the school’s athletic and activities director in 2011, after he completed a graduate program in athletic administration.
