Woodland — Members of the Heron Lake Inner Golf Club and the Lewis River 9 Holers held a golf tournament last month to honor one of their own who died in December.

The Nancy Freeland Memorial Tournament was held on May 27 at the Lewis River Golf Course.

Freeland, 68, was a member of both golf groups. In her memory, a purple rhododendron was planted by the first tee box at the golf course, and a plaque is planned to also be placed there in the near future.
