In a generation full of low standards in education, America has become a nation in decline. It is horrific to observe such negative statistics about our educational system, realizing that children are having a hard time focusing on the basics of learning.
With the development of the program No Child Left Behind, student success has not reached any achievement. Amanda Ripley, author of “The Smartest Kids in the World,” notices the distinction between America and other nations, resulting in very low statistics toward our part. “American students rank 25th in math, 17th in science and 14th in reading compared to students in 27 industrialized countries” as of 2012. The numbers have fluctuated, but overall have remained low.
Unless we want to see the upcoming generation to be a complete wreck, raising the standards in education is the answer. It can be started through little steps, such as adding more homework or grading based on analytical reasoning.
Before it is too late, teach children how to be logical and assertive in their own knowledge.
