Shahala Middle School will present a free sci-fi family night/book fair from 6 to 8 p.m. March 27 in the school’s library, 601 S.E. 192nd Ave. The school’s parent-teacher organization is requesting donations to help buy books, technology, and supplies for the school’s library. All ages are invited to attend.

Activities include a Scholastic Book Fair, sci-fi/fantasy trivia and memorabilia, a costume contest, paper lightsaber making, games, contests and give-aways, a used book sale and some “real science” information tables, said Paul Warner, the school’s teacher-librarian.

Costumed members of the 501st Legion from Portland will attend and will pose for photos. In past events, Darth Vader, storm troopers, clone troopers, Boba Fett and others attended, Warner said.
