Try This: Dance, Play, Learn in Clark County

From the classic ballet of “Sleeping Beauty” to the iconic contemporary dances of Bob Fosse, “Columbia Dance Presents!” crosses dance genres. Columbia Dance’s signature performance will include excerpts from the ballet, three pieces of Fosse choreography and a premiere work by Artistic Director Jan Hurst. The matinee show will feature a performance by the junior company dancers. The evening performance will include work by guest choreographer Eowyn Emerald.

2) For young paleontologists

Jurassic Quest is a traveling showcase of animatronic dinosaurs aimed at younger dinosaur fans that features more than 50 dinosaurs from the Middle Triassic to the Late Cretaceous eras. The exhibit includes themed crafts, activity areas and a fossil dig.

4) Community of artists

The 13th annual Battle Ground Art Alliance Spring Show and Sale is one of the largest juried art shows in the area. It features multiple media, including photography, woodwork, ceramics and jewelry. Visitors can vote for the People’s Choice award, explore the themed exhibit, “Celebrate the Rain,” or participate in the silent art auction. Meet the artists at tonight’s public reception from 5 to 8 p.m.; awards announced at 6:30 p.m.

5) ‘Divergent’ converges on theaters

Based on the best-selling book by Veronica Roth, Tris Prior (Shailene Woodley) lives in a dystopian Chicago, where society has been divided into five factions based on personal traits. At 16, everyone is sorted by a test, which reveals Tris is a Divergent and has the potential to disrupt the societal order. To hide her status, she joins the warrior Dauntless faction, learning to fight under the training of drill sergeant Four (Theo James). “Divergent” is rated PG-13.
