PORTLAND — A mob of teenagers used a mini scooter and a metal crutch to beat a young man in Portland last week after he refused to give them a cigarette.

Police Friday arrested Cheimy Matos, 18, and a 17-year-old suspect in connection with the Tuesday beating. Previously arrested were Francisco Angel-Silva, 19, and a 14-year-old boy.

Matos and Angel-Silva were both charged with second and third-degree assault.

Court documents show as many as eight people kicked and punched the 24-year-old victim.

An officer in the area responded after he heard someone yell “stop” and found the bleeding victim. He was taken to a hospital with a fractured face and skull, and a broken arm.
