State officials are warning consumers to be careful of scam artists who are posing as relief workers helping victims of the Snohomish County mudslide. Attorney General Bob Ferguson and Secretary of State Kim Wyman urged consumers to be suspicious and ensure charities are qualified before donating.

The Council of Better Business Bureaus runs give.org, which is an option for those who want to help. State officials also warned against giving cash donations and giving out credit card information over the phone.
