Prep roundup: Union softball wins pitcher’s duel

It was old-school softball when Hockinson and Union squared off Monday.

A pitcher’s duel.

Alexis Kron of Union won this duel, striking out 16 Hawks in a 1-0 victory.

Adrianna Anderson of Hockinson got the tough-luck pitching loss. She struck out four, scattering seven hits.

Alexis Staton drove in Haylee Vinyard with the game’s only run in the bottom of the third inning.

Hockinson’s Kayla Harteloo had two of her team’s four hits against Kron.

Stars of the day

Preston Jones, Mountain View baseball, went 2 for 3 with a home run, two RBI and a stolen base in the Thunder’s 4-1 win over Prairie.

Cody Hawken, Union baseball, went 3 for 4 with two doubles and drove in three runs in a win over Heritage.

Cameron Pierce, Camas baseball, was 3 for 3 and drove in a run for the Papermakers in a win over Evergreen.

Andrew Haley, Columbia River baseball, hit a triple and a double and knocked in four runs in a 6-4 win over Hudson’s Bay.

Harli Hubbard, Camas softball, hit a two-run home run and also struck out nine in an 6-1 win over Mountain View.
