A scholar of the history of digital technology will lead a discussion about how technology has changed learning and how families and teachers can understand the changes. The free presentation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Kiggins Theater, 1101 Main St. is the final #nextchapter project event this year.

Cathy N. Davidson is the author of “Now You See It: How Technology and Brain Science Will Transform Schools and Business for the 21st Century.”

Davidson teaches at Duke University in Durham, N.C. Free copies of Davidson’s book will be available.

The #nextchapter project is a community reading and conversation program to stimulate innovation and opportunities through deeper understanding of the most compelling cultural trends of the emerging digital economy. The project is led by Dene Grigar, director of the Creative Media and Digital Culture program at Washington State University Vancouver and Jack Burkman, Vancouver city councilor.
