OSO — A Washington fire department is still working on a mudslide that killed more than 40 people in March, but it’s also thinking about a community in Afghanistan hit by a far more deadly mudslide.

The Oso Fire Department issued a statement Tuesday asking the local community to consider donating to Save the Children International in support of a remote village in northeast Afghanistan hit early this month by a mudslide. As many as 2,500 people in Abi Barik were buried.

The Oso Fire Department says it has received incredible support and now it offers condolences and support for mudslide victims in Afghanistan.
