Vigil set for kidnapped Nigerian girls

The Columbian
Published: May 12, 2014, 5:00pm

A talk and candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m. Friday will bring awareness to the more than 200 Nigerian schoolgirls who were kidnapped last month. The event, to be held at the Roy Andersen Fountain on the Clark College campus, 1933 Fort Vancouver Way, is part of the Bring Back Our Girls campaign.

The event is being organized by a local woman, Angela Slot, who aims to educate people about the need to stop human trafficking. Vancouver’s vigil is one of many happening in cities around the world. It is not sponsored by Clark College, she said.

Participants can bring their own candles if they want to, and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs if they need to sit.
