“Divine empire” grants $20,000 to local nonprofits

Esther Short — The nonprofit organization Gifts For Our Community has announced its 2014 grant award recipients. Each of the following community nonprofits will receive a $2,000 grant:

o AVID program at Columbia River High School.

o CDM Services Adult Day Center for Music Therapy.

o Council for the Homeless.n Good Shepherd Lutheran Preschool.

o Magenta Theater.n New Heights Clinic.

o North County Community Food Bank.

o Parks Foundation.

o Police Activities League of Vancouver.

o Vida’s Ark.

Gifts For Our Community makes grant selections each year using proceeds from the local “Divine empire” of secondhand stores — Divine Consign, Divine Bites, Divine Again and b.devine clothing boutique — as well as private donations. Each year it makes grants to local nonprofits working in the fields of education, human services and the arts. Learn more at divineconsignfurniture.org.
