Portland-based discount food seller Everyday Deals expects to open its first Vancouver store three weeks to a month from now, owner Steve Harkless said Tuesday. Harkless had hoped to open the store, at the former St. Johns IGA site, 2109 St. Johns Blvd., in March.

“Construction and remodeling has taken longer than expected,” he said.

Everyday Deals purchased the 13,500-square-foot building from the store’s owner-operators, the Kooistra family, which ran the store from 1983 until December. Everyday Deals, with two stores in Portland, sells discount and post-dated produce and other food.
