Police responded to Battle Ground High School Monday morning for a bomb threat that was found to be not credible, according to Battle Ground police.

At about 11:30 a.m., officers responded to the school, where a student had left a note in a bathroom indicating a bomb threat, said Battle Ground Police Department spokeswoman Bonnie Gilberti.

Police also found an unclaimed bag near the gym. While police investigated, students were evacuated as a precautionary measure.

Officers quickly learned the bag contained only gym clothes.

A school resource officer identified and interviewed a 14-year-old boy who admitted to writing the note as a hoax, Gilberti said. Police confirmed the note was not credible. School resumed its normal schedule following the investigation.

Police have referred the case to the Juvenile Division of the Clark County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and are requesting that the boy face charges.
