Battle Ground — Two local organizations, a longstanding club and a business, recently made donations to Kiwanis Park and the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial that will be built there. The Battle Ground Garden Club, which was founded in 1948 but recently disbanded after a decline in membership, donated its remaining funds for a new bench in the park plus $592 for the Veterans project. The bench was dedicated on Oct. 14. Plus, Mortons’ Stoves, Pools and Spas donated to the Veterans project $497 that was raised in a raffle. Ground is expected to be broken on the Veterans Memorial, which will be paid for entirely through donations, in 2015. Visit cityofbg.org/veteransmemorial.
