Prep roundup: Ridgefield, Hockinson soccer headed back to state

Spudders, Hawks will meet Thursday for district title

The Ridgefield and Hockinson girls soccer teams are headed for another showdown.

Oh, and the Spudders and Hawks clinched state playoff berths.

Ridgefield enjoyed a big second half and beat Mark Morris 5-1 in a Class 2A district semfinal on Tuesday, while the Hawks went on the road to beat Black Hills 3-0.

Hockinson will play at Ridgefield on Thursday for the district championship and top two seeds to state.

Ridgefield’s Kara Klaus scored the first two goals of the second half, breaking a 1-1 tie. Erin Seigel and Lexi Lucero also found the net for the Spudders, who will host Hockinson in the district championship match Thursday.

For Hockinson, Rylee Seekins assisted on the first goal and scored the next two.

Jenna Talarico and Alicia Stark combined in the net for the shutout.

Hockinson coach Zack Goldfinch also pointed out Megan Roscoe, Alyssa Chapin, Sophia Niehaus, and Peyton Merringer for their performances.

Girls soccer

Washougal 4, W.F. West 3, PKs — Washougal rallied from a two-goal deficit late, and then beat W.F. West in penalty kicks to advance in the Class 2A District 4 girls soccer tournament.

Heather Deulen scored with around two minutes left in regulation off an assist from Haley Briggs to tie the match 3-3 for the Panthers.

After a scoreless first half, W.F. West went up 3-1 in the second half.

Isabelle Sampson scored Washougal’s second goal, assisted by Deulen. Briggs found the net for the first goal of the match early in the second half.

Washougal will face Mark Morris on Thursday.

Prairie 3, Hazen 0 — The Falcons survived a loser-out game in the 3A bi-district playoffs. Prairie will face Capital of Olympia on Thursday in Tacoma in another loser-out game.

King’s Way Christian 2, Elma 0 — Meleah Kainu and Elise Schey scored the goals and Halle Colf had four saves in the shutout as King’s Way Christian advanced in the Class 1A district soccer tournament.

King’s Way will play Montesano on Thursday.

Volleyball

Skyview 3, Union 1 — Kaila Robinson could not be contained Tuesday night, and the Skyview Storm are still alive in the Class 4A District 4 volleyball tournament.

Robinson had 27 kills, leading the Storm, the No. 5 seed, to a four-set victory over No. 4 Union, 25-27, 25-22, 25-9, 25-13.

The Storm will face No. 1 Battle Ground in the championship semifinals Thursday.

Brooke Mosier and Lauren Birch led Union with eight kills apiece.

Heritage 3, Mountain View 0 — In the other elimination match, Dalaney Tuholski had 18 kills, and Heritage extended its season with a win over Mountain View, 25-23, 25-20, 25-17.

Anna Pentilla and Hannah Lord each had seven kills for Timberwolves.

Heritage, the No. 3 seed, will travel to No. 2 Camas on Thursday in the championship semifinals.

Melisa Ljuca had 15 kills for Mountain View. Sabrina Mauke added four kills and 16 digs.

Mary M. Knight 3, Firm Foundation 1 — Firm Foundation Christian’s season came to an end with a 25-15, 10-25, 25-17, 25-21 loss. Kirsten Day had six kills and a block for Firm Foundation.

Naselle 3, Washington School for Deaf 0 — WSD sufferd a season-ending loss.
