Greg Kimsey is more than just a great neighbor. He is arguably the most respected public servant in Clark County.
As county auditor for 16 years, Kimsey ran unopposed in the past three elections; the last time he was opposed 12 years ago he received almost two-thirds of the votes. Kimsey’s stewardship of local elections is consistently meritorious.
By comparison, I doubt if David Madore runs unopposed in his next election. As county commissioner, his cronyism is unabashed. He has polarized constituents and alienated key factions in our community, even apolitical groups such as the Humane Society and economic development leaders.
And yet Madore, of all people, launched a personal, public attack upon Kimsey in weeks leading up to the 2014 election. That attack backfired, deservedly for Madore, whose pettiness is embraced only by his next political appointee.
