DES MOINES — A fire broke out on the roof of a minimum security jail early Tuesday in Des Moines.

KIRO reports the fire did not get inside the jail known as SCORE or the South Correctional Entity. It holds up to 800 misdemeanor inmates for south King County cities.

Deputy Director Jim Kelly says inmates were moved to areas of the facility not affected by the smoke while firefighters put out the fire.

The fire was noticed about 1 a.m. on a security camera. The cause has not been determined.
