Turkey Trot, plunge to benefit Food Bank

Published: November 14, 2014, 12:00am

The 13th annual Turkey Trot along the Salmon Creek Greenway Trail is set for Thanksgiving morning, and registration is open now through Nov. 21. Volunteers are welcome, too; 75 are needed.

What began as a couple of families coming together for an informal run on Thanksgiving morning has grown into a big, successful charity event that benefits the Clark County Food Bank. There’s now a registration limit at 1,200 runners for the two main events, a 5K walk/run and a 10K run. Both begin at 9 a.m. at Klineline Pond, 1112 N.E. 117th St.

There’s also a Polar Bear Plunge into Klineline at 10 a.m.; if you register for the Plunge as well as the race, you’ll receive an official Turkey Trot towel to help you warm right back up. And, there’ll be a kids’ piñata and post-race treats including donuts, bagels and bananas.

People who come dressed in festive Thanksgiving costumes can win prizes.

Visit www.turkey-trot.org to learn more and register. Registration costs $25.
