For a high school student such as myself, college is a popular path that can normally guarantee a well-paying job, something graduates will need in order to pay off the thousands of dollars of debt for a college education. Now I do believe that student debt and college costs are too high for everyone, but I want to especially take a closer look at middle-class families.
Upper-class families have the money to send their children to out-of-state schools with little impact on their wallets and life. Lower-income families often receive government assistance that sends students to college for free, or close to it. So what is occurring among the middle-class families? They have too much money to receive anything from the government and yet they do not have enough money to provide their child with a debt-free education.
College costs need to be reduced to a more reasonable price in order to level the playing field for all families’ financial situations, and to decrease the amount of college debt that students are swamped with soon after graduation.
