Beat holiday blues with mental health forum

Clark County — This season is supposed to be one of joy and celebration, but for many people, it’s anything but enjoyable. Stress and anxiety, loneliness and/or overstimulation, difficult family dynamics and reminders of loss and grief — all that can turn into a complicated landscape of isolation and depression. Not to mention the weather, of course.

The local chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is hosting a Friday afternoon forum on beating the holiday and seasonal blues. You’ll learn tips for managing stress, staying happy and healthy and even managing your finances during the holidays. There’ll be door prizes and refreshments.

The forum is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at the NAMI Southwest Washington main office, 8019 N.E. 13th Ave., in Hazel Dell. Call Daryn Nelsen at 360-695-2823 to learn more — or just to discuss depression and the holiday blues.
