Clark County residents can dispose of hazardous waste and other household items during a free collection event Saturday.

The event at Battle Ground High School is the latest in a series of collection opportunities sponsored by Green Neighbors, a Clark County Environmental Services program. The state Department of Ecology provides grant funding for the events.

This weekend’s collection will last from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Battle Ground High School, 300 W. Main St. Block foam, electronic equipment, some appliances, scrap metal, woody yard debris and hazardous waste such as pesticides, paints, motor oil and cleaners will be accepted, according to the county.

Participants are also encouraged to bring nonperishable food for local food banks.
