BirdFest and Bluegrass, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The 15th annual celebration marks the return of fall migratory birds to the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge with guided hikes and tours, workshops, Chinook cultural demonstrations, canoe and kayak trips, and a traditional salmon bake. Downtown Ridgefield will host live bird shows, author readings, family activities and the birders’ marketplace. The Old Liberty Theater will host bluegrass concerts. Oktoberfest at Northwood Public House and Brewery, noon to 10 p.m. The brewpub will transform into a Bavarian-style beer hall with music by San Francisco polka-rock band Those Darn Accordions, along with balloon art, kids coloring contest, stein-holding contest and yodeling.
