An attic fire damaged a single-story home in Camas Thursday afternoon, displacing the residents.

The fire was reported around 4 p.m. at 5611 N.W. Jackson St., near Lacamas Lake. Firefighters with the Camas-Washougal Fire Department found smoke coming from the attic above the garage when they arrived. Apparently, a floodlight that had been left on caught the insulation on fire, said Battalion Chief Mark Ervin. The fire spread to the rafters and fried the electrical wiring.

“The fire was out pretty quick, but they had a lot of overhaul to do,” Ervin said.

Although the fire was small, he said it caused a lot of damage. Ervin believes the homeowners, listed as Deena and Patrick White in county property records, will have to rewire the house.

The Clark County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire.
