Vancouver — Vancouver firefighters raised just about $30,000, a record high, during their annual Fill The Boot fundraiser for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

On Sept. 4 and 5, members of Vancouver Fire Department Local 452 stood at the intersection of Highway 99 and Northeast 78th Street to ask passing motorists to drop donations in boots they were holding.

Fill the Boot fundraisers are held across the country. In 2013 more than 100,000 firefighters from around the U.S. brought in $26.2 million during the campaign, according to the International Association of Fire Fighters.
