PORTLAND — Police finally caught up with a man Monday evening in Portland after they say he stole a forklift, crashed through a garage and fence and led officers on a chase across railroad tracks.

The Oregonian reports officers searched but couldn’t find the man after the initial report he crashed through a garage and was driving down a street. About two hours later, another call reported a man had crashed a forklift through a fence and was driving onto railroad tracks along the Willamette River.

Arriving officers were stopped by a passing train. The man was on the other side with the forklift.

The 37-year-old was eventually arrested and taken to the Multnomah County Jail facing multiple charges.
