Letter: Strong women are to be admired

The Columbian
Published: October 16, 2014, 5:00pm

As a woman, and I hope most men would feel this way, I am totally insulted by the Oct. 8 endorsement editorial “Pike for 18th District” of state Rep. Liz Pike, R-Camas. The first three-quarters of the editorial is spent saying how Pike really isn’t very good at what she is doing, and then, instead of even mentioning important issues, the only thing it says about Maureen Winningham is that she was too aggressive during the interview. If Winningham was “Martin” Winningham, would the editorial board have made that comment? I happen to be a strong supporter of Maureen Winningham even though I am not in her district. If I was a Liz Pike supporter, I would feel exactly the same way.
