Six local restaurants and Clark County Public Health are unveiling new, healthier recipes on Friday.
The restaurants — Dragonfly Cafe, Farrar’s Bistro, Mighty Bowl, Mill Creek Pub, Mint Tea and Morelia’s Mexican Grill — have all been recognized by the health department as Healthy Neighborhood Restaurants. The restaurants earned the recognition by promoting healthier side dishes, kids meals and beverages and by adding smaller portions of some regular menu items.
To celebrate the Healthy Neighborhood Restaurants Program’s launch, the restaurants will offer their new, healthier menu options at reduced prices on National Food Day on Friday.
The Healthy Neighborhood Restaurant Program began in 2012 with grants from Kaiser Permanente and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The health department hopes to expand the program to more restaurants this year.
