OLYMPIA — The body of a man whose sailboat capsized in Saturday’s wind in south Puget Sound was recovered Sunday near Olympia.

The Thurston County sheriff’s office says the body of 46-year-old Jay Bergland of Olympia was recovered in Case Inlet, near Herron Island.

Two other people in the 22-foot sailboat were rescued after it overturned in high winds and 8-foot waves.

The sheriff’s office says the boat was racing with about two dozen other sailboats in the 27-mile Eagle Islands Race, a race put on by the South Sound Sailing Society.
