Esther Short — The work of local artists Vicki Lynn Wilson and Greg Bee is on display in Vancouver City Hall until Nov. 7. Wilson’s piece is hard to miss. She transformed a main pillar in the lobby into a temporary sculpture called “Strata,” made largely from cardboard to later be recycled. It rises up from the ground to the ceiling with representations of wood, dirt, bricks and the roof of a house. Simulated laundry hangs from the house at the top, “combining the world above and the world below,” according to a press release. In addition to the sculpture, mixed-media pieces by Bee, “blending abstract images and recognizable forms,” are on display in various conference rooms. The exhibits were curated by Vancouver artist Erin Dengerink. An opening reception was held on Friday.
