MONMOUTH, Ore. — Authorities say an 8-year-old boy has died after he apparently got scared by a bee and fell through a hole in the floor of an old building under renovation in Oregon.

Sgt. Tyrone Jenkins of the Polk County sheriff’s office says Daniel Indra of Monmouth was helping with a remodeling project on the multilevel metal building in the rural county.

Jenkins says Daniel was on a platform on the building’s top level with a family member when he encountered the bee. The boy stepped aside and then fell through a hole to the level below.

The Oregonian reports the boy died Sunday afternoon at a Portland hospital after the fall Saturday south of Monmouth.
