DAVIS, Calif. — Vernon Adams Jr. threw two long touchdown passes and ran for a third as Eastern Washington cruised past UC Davis, 37-14, in the Big Sky Conference opener for both schools Saturday night.

The Eagles (4-1, 1-0) led by just two points, 9-7 at intermission, but wasted little time getting on the board in the second half.

Adams found Cooper Kupp with a 61-yard touchdown pass less than a minute into the third quarter, then ran in from the 4 midway through the period.

Mario Brown scored from 6 late in the third quarter to make it 30-7, but UC Davis (1-3, 0-1) responded with a 70-yard, London Lacy-to-Keelan Doss touchdown pass.

Adams added a 40-yard scoring pass to Blair Bomber in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring.

Adams was 23 of 28 for 303 yards, with seven passes going to Kupp, who finished with 94 receiving yards.
