HISTORY BEE REGIONAL WINNER

Andrew Douglas, a sixth-grade student at Jason Lee Middle School, won first place in the region — for the second year in a row — at the National History Bee competition, March 14 in Portland. He will advance to the national history bee on Labor Day weekend in Kentucky. Andrew competed with finalists from Washington, Oregon and Idaho as the students answered questions about ancient, world, American, political, military and social history. His father, Dave Douglas, teaches history at Columbia River High School, and his mother, Sara Douglas, teaches at Marrion Elementary. Andrew’s history teacher, Cheryl Miller, has encouraged his love of history.
