Don Young is still looking for volunteers to help make some special food deliveries on May 9.

The annual National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” Food Drive is set for that day, and local coordinator Young needs extra help.

People with vehicles and feet — who can drive different routes and scoop up food donations left by people’s mailboxes — are needed to help local mail carriers cover every mail route in the county, Young said. He is hoping for a couple dozen volunteers who can show up at 10 a.m. May 9, and then head out on a route. Maps and other information will be provided.

Call Young at 360-694-7163 or 360-904-6972. He is in need of people to cover the city of Vancouver, he said.

Last year’s event touched 10,000 cities and towns in America and collected nearly 73 million pounds of food.
